I have started work on v1.5 which is a complete re-code (code was messy to start with, and got worse as I added new features) and will include a mod install/backup function. Due to other projects I am working on my spare time is limited, so I don't know when I'll be done with v.1.5. I would say that if you like the program give me some feedback.

So far for the 500-600 downloads I've had accross GTA Garage and my website, I have only had two people post feedback. Project On Hold I have recently moved my final Windows machine to Linux. Although this is good for me and many of my other projects, it means all my Visual Studio based projects are on hold.

GTA Backup however is one of the few that I do plan to migrate to another language and continue work on. This will not only allow me to continue the project, but will also allow me to support the Linux GTA players (who play with using WINE). I expect to have GTA Backup rewritten in another language by Feb 2013, so expect beta versions of 1.5.0 around March. I will be needing Windows testers, so if you currently use GTA Backup and want to help out, PM me and let me know.

Project Update After posting the GTA V backgrounds I had another look at GTA Backup. Due to the source code being a mess and new ideas requiring a different approach the current code is not much use, so 1.5.0 has been scrapped. Instead I have started writing GTA Backup 2.0 from scratch.

GTA Backup 2.0 will include all previous features as well as; Support for GTA 1, London & GTA 2. ASI launcher (thanks SilentPL for the ideas and help). And other additional small features and advanced settings. The biggest new feature will be a new Modification backup utility, which will allow you to backup game files before you install mods. Time is short so I have no release date (if you want it sooner nip over to my website and hit the donate button ), although all previous features have been implemented into GTA Backup 2.0 and I am well into adding the new features.

If you have any ideas for things you'd like in GTA Backup, just post and let me know. Well, it's been a long time since we had any GTA Backup updates.

After having a few friends ask about adding GTA V support for the PC version coming out, I've decided to start work on GTA Backup again. I'm not working on version 2 which I mentioned above. Instead I'm updating the current version with GTA V support as well as support for a hand full of custom games (for total conversion mods like Vice City Stories), a better GUI (like you'll see in my GTA Launcher program) and a few other little additional features.

As always I am happy to hear your suggestions and take them on board. The features of version 1.5 however are locked down and wont change, as I want to get it released in time for you to enjoy GTA V, knowing your saved games are safe.

And here comes the mooching bit. As you know GTA Backup is 100% free with no adverts, therefore I don't make a penny out of it. If you use and like GTA Backup or if it has saved one of your saves, nip over to the and donate a few quid to show your appreciation and help me put more time into the developement.
